Since March 2025, the Bangkok Disability Services Center, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Thailand, has embraced YYSystem, an assistive communication application developed by AISIN, to enhance communication, especially with users who are deaf or hard of hearing. Over time, this tool has become more than just a digital device. It has become a quiet bridge of understanding between service staff and users, offering dignity, clarity, and compassion in every conversation.

Mr. Napon Mathanom, a social worker at the center, recalled a memorable interaction with an elderly user who had severe hearing loss. In the past, staff had to raise their voices repeatedly, which was uncomfortable for both sides. With YYSystem, the user could read messages at their own pace and respond calmly. “The moment we stopped shouting and they started smiling, that’s when we knew this device truly mattered,” he shared.

The system’s two-way communication function has enabled both parties to understand each other more effectively, particularly users who lost their hearing later in life and never learned sign language. By allowing them to process information slowly, ask questions, and feel in control of the exchange, YYSystem builds trust and comfort. It is also especially effective in conveying specific or technical terms that are difficult to express through speech or sign language. Written communication brings clarity and boosts confidence, creating a more inclusive and empowering service experience.

While YYSystem already plays a valuable role, service staff have suggested ideas for future enhancements, such as integrating pre-set questions and customizable FAQ sets to streamline interactions even further. Ultimately, YYSystem is more than a communication tool. It is a symbol of empathy, a means to empowerment, and a trusted assistant that helps every individual feel seen, heard, and valued, one conversation at a time.
